She also participated in Moot Court and Mock Trial, winning a Best Litigator Award.

How I Serve Clients

My father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a year before I was born, leaving him wheelchair-bound, unable to walk, and needing significant assistance with daily living activities.  Ultimately, my family was forced to make the very difficult decision of placing my father in an assisted living facility. Unfortunately, various occasions arose in which he received grossly deficient care.

On one particular occasion, my dad’s feet were caught in the footboard of his bed, and, despite turning on his call light, personnel at the assisted living facility did not see or hear his calls for help for hours. It wasn’t until my mom and I arrived the next morning that we could free his extremities. However, he had already lost circulation in his toes by that time and was suffering excruciating pain.

I watched my mom, a nurse practitioner, constantly advocate to get my father the appropriate care he needed, whether it be pushing to make sure he was turned at appropriate intervals to prevent pressure ulcers or for his medications to be provided timely. However, he often still took a backseat to other residents, leaving my mother and I to fill in for staff to ensure his basic needs were met and any arising health issues were handled.  I approach each case with the empathy that I have garnered from these personal experiences.

It is incredibly difficult for a loved one to be admitted to a nursing home or long-term care facility. In addition to facing a loss of independence, they may be subjected to mistreatment, abuse, and neglect. It is vital for our most vulnerable population to feel safe and cared for.  As a nursing home abuse attorney and medical malpractice lawyer, it is an honor to fight for justice and accountability on behalf of injured clients and their families.
